MTV Brand New 2012

By AC December 9th, 2011, under Banter

Hey y’all, we’ve been very quiet of late. Life took aver for a little while sorry. Very soon we’ll have some new interesting stuff for you to hear and a new chiptunes podcast. All coming in the new year. Also we have the 8bit Lounge Christmas Party on Tuesday 13th December. Come and play games with us while we make some noises! In the meantime, we’ve made the long list fro MTV’s Brand New 2012. Best way to explain it is to copy the text from the web page:

ABOUT COMPETITION

MTV are offering one unsigned act the chance to be part of Brand New for 2012. One UK or Ireland-based unsigned band/artist will have the chance to follow in the footsteps of Jessie J, Tinie Tempah, Lady Gaga, The Vaccines, Labrinth and Wretch 32 but they need your votes to to help get them there. On December, 9th our judges selected the longlist of acts through to the public vote. You now have between December, 9th and January, 8th to vote for your favourite. We will be tracking each act’s online buzz as well as counting their votes. MTV’s crack team of music experts will pick an unsigned winner from the top 20 – and on January 9th we will have our shortlist of 10. Make sure you ‘Like’ the MTV Brand New Facebook page to stay up to date with your progress in the competition.

See? Nice things might happen for us! So here’s a plea, help us out, like our track, vote for us, write loads of things on our Facebook page. Get your friends involved, if you  like us, why shouldn’t they? If you have a blog, please mention us and our campaign and even if we fail, we might generate a bit of hype! Speaking fo whichm here’s a thingy which says arbitrarily how good we’re doing or something:

Contributions and Collaborations

By AC June 22nd, 2011, under Banter, Music

Remember ages ago when we played at the launch party of Dirty Bristow magazine? Well for the second edition we contributed a little somethin’ somethin’ by the way of a sonic tidbit. Every (many(some)) copy of Dirty Bristow, Beast Edition will come with a cover tape containing some musical mashups and a game for the ZX Spectrum! We did a very silly cover of “Deer Dance” by System of a Down, featuring a malfunctioning robot William Shatner. Well, they asked for “cross-genre”…

You can buy the second edition – “Beast” – of the magazine here.

And you can see our contribution here.

Oh, and I (Andy) also contributed some arts for one of the articles!

Another New Gig

By AC June 21st, 2011, under Gigs

We’ve been very kindly asked by Birmingham Promoters to support Greg Bird & Flamingo Flame at their Freestyle event at The Bulls Head, Moseley on the 15th July. Just had a listen to Greg and his stuff is really lovely. Looking forward to it big time!

Doors are at 19:00 and it will cost you the modest sum of £3 on the door. I should have some tickets beforehand though, I’ll let you know soon.

Here’s the event on their website

See you there!

Festival Fun!

By AC June 20th, 2011, under Gigs

We’re happy to announce we’ve been booked to play our first ever festival! Limetree Festival of Music and Arts is a small up-and-coming festival up in Grewelthorpe, North Yorkshire from 26th to 28th August. It looks wicked, and we’ll be playing on the Sorted Dance Stage at 17:00 on the Saturday. A weekend pass will set you back the modest sum of £85 and a day pass, but £35. It would be wicked if we could see some of your happy faces down there, and for those of you that can’t afford one of the larger more commercial festivals this year, why not help out and make Limetree awesome! Trust me, it’s worth it just to see Cantaloop. Oh, and we’ll be wearing capes! ;]

As we learn more info, I’ll let you know but we’re going to try and book a bunch of warm up gigs ove the next 8 weeks.

See you soon!

We’ve been quiet really for a bit on here, just though I’d let you know we’re still alive. I have a bionic knee now and I’ve been writing some more tunes. Here’s a work in progress I have to finish:

We done released an EP!

By AC December 10th, 2010, under EP

Well dudes, it’s been a long time coming but we’re about to release 6581 through many of the main digital outlets. Decided not to hold it back waiting to be able to fund a physical release so we’re going to release it as MP3 now, and then fund the CDs afterwards!

As of, hopefully, tomorrow, you’ll be able to download 6581 from iTunes, hopefully. It will also eventually be available from Amazon, Napster, Zune store, Rhapsody, Spotify, eMusic and more!

Don’t ask me how much it is, because I don’t have any idea!

So tomorrow, search for us and buy it! I’ll put links up for each of the shops when I have them =]

Please tell your friends and spread the word for us! Woo!

More Gigs and Release News

By AC October 26th, 2010, under EP, Gigs

We have three gigs coming up in the next few weeks and a special Christmas one. Firstly, the Halloween Monster Movie Challenge, where Emerald Void will be presenting a bunch of indie film-makers’ short horror films for your delectation. This is at the Sound Bar in Birmingham, this Saturday on the 30th October. We’ll be playing with Meat Hook (trying to find some links for you) who are considerably heavier than us, so I’ve fattened up the set for the event ;]

On the 11th November we have a road-trip out to Portsmouth where we’ll be playing at Jamnesty! at the Fat Fox in Southsea for the Amnesty International charity. I don’t have much more info but I’ll put something up when I do. This will be our furthest trip from home so it’ll be interesting to see the reaction…

Then on the 13th November we rush back to play at the Sunflower Lounge in Birmingham. This time we’re playing for Silent Filter Promotions again. Again, I don’t have many details other than we’re on early at like 8pm or something so we can get drunk with you afterwards. There are four bands on in total and when I know some more I’ll fill you in.

We are also planning a special Christmas gig with some friends we made at 2Weeks 2Make It. They are the runners up at the competition, a fantastic bunch of chaps and totally loony, Fatbwoi 5. Really looking forward to this, it should be mad as a fish. It’s on the 16th December at the Lamp Tavern in Dudley. We’re even going to write you a super-special Christmas ditty.

And finally… The EP. We’re very quickly coming to the conclusion that this may be a two-phased approach. The reason being, we can’t raise the funds to do a physical release at the moment. So initially, and this is subject to change, we shall be releasing the EP digitally through some well-known vendors. I envisage this to be happening in December, maybe it’ll coincide with the magic Christmas gig, who knows. We can then save up and release a lovely shiny CD for sometime next year. More info soon when we’ve made some decisions…
